IAN Breakfast Forum

The Industry Advisory Network (IAN) is an important networking body for the Faculty which operates at a senior management level and seeks to maximise the alignment between UTS engineering programs and the needs of Australian Industry. Its members, made up from the Faculty and the local Engineering Industry, meet on a regular monthly basis. The Vision and Mission of the Network and its key short term strategies are:

Vision

IAN is the bridge linking UTS and industry – it seeks to ensure that graduates' education, knowledge and experience exceeds industry's needs and expectations both at engagement and in the long term and to enhance the business community's capture of practice-based education and research.

Mission

Make a significant difference in:

How UTS Engineering is perceived (internally and externally) as the premium, practice-based engineering faculty
Industry's perception that UTS graduates are first class by world standards
Forming a strong network for academics to draw upon
Future students regard the University as their first choice

Provide strategic support on:

The quality of courses and the desirable attributes of students and graduates to meet the demands of the evolving world of engineering
Issues of importance and relevance for the future development of the Faculty
Inter-relationships with Government, professional institutions and other relevant influential bodies.
